How does online proctoring work?

The School of Continuing Studies (SCS) offers online proctoring services for learners enrolled certain courses that require proctoring.  SCS currently uses Proctortrack by Verificient Technologies®, for our online proctoring services.  Please consult your course outline to confirm whether your course has a proctored final exam.

Live online proctoring allows completion of your course assessment from an off-campus location. Proctortrack by Verificient Technologies®, provides live proctoring by highly trained human proctors as well as automated proctoring without a live proctor. Live proctoring provides a remote invigilator who will observe your completion of the exam using specialized software and recordings will be made and held for a limited period of time in order to ensure academic integrity is maintained. The University of Toronto has an institutionally endorsed agreement with Proctortrack by Verificient Technologies® that protects the privacy of the recordings, and other personal information. Automated proctoring uses specialized software and your exam session will be recorded, processed and presented to the School of Continuing Studies for review. Please consult your course outline to confirm which type of proctoring your course will be using.

Learners taking their examinations online must agree to be proctored by Proctortrack by Verificient Technologies® throughout the duration of the exam. Access to a computer that can support remote recording is the learner's responsibility. Please note that you will be required to show official government photo identification prior to beginning to write the exam (driver's license or passport which is not expired).

Registering for your exam:

All learners enrolled in an online course with a proctored final exam will be automatically registered for the exam.

Prior to your exam date you will receive communication from the SCS Program Office with instructions on how to schedule your exam with Proctortrack.
